State-of-the-Art Rolling Mills for TMT/Rebar Production

Advanced TMT/Rebar Production Process
The Mankoo machine tools TMT rebar rolling process is designed to deliver exceptional strength, flexibility, and durability by utilizing a precisely controlled thermomechanical treatment (TMT). This advanced process enhances the metallurgical properties of the steel, ensuring that the final product meets the highest structural standards required for modern construction.
The production begins with heating billets or ingots to the optimal rolling temperature in energy-efficient reheating furnaces. These are then passed through roughing stands for initial shaping, followed by high-speed rolling through precision-engineered mill stands that refine the bars to the desired size and surface finish.
Once shaped, the hot rolled bars undergo intensive quenching in a specially designed TMT quenching box, where they are rapidly cooled using high-pressure water jets. This process creates a strong, tempered outer layer while retaining a softer, ductile core, resulting in rebars with superior tensile strength, bendability, and resistance to corrosion and fatigue.
After quenching, the bars are transferred to cooling beds, where they are slowly cooled, straightened, cut to desired lengths, stacked, and finally bundled for dispatch. Every step is closely monitored and automated to ensure consistency, reduce waste, and meet the stringent quality standards of both domestic and international markets.

Core Parameters of a High-Performance Rolling Mill
- Reheating: Billets are uniformly heated in energy-efficient reheating furnaces to reach the optimal rolling temperature, typically between 1100°C to 1250°C. This ensures the steel is malleable enough for shaping without compromising its structural integrity.
- Rolling: The hot billets pass through a series of advanced rolling stands—both roughing and finishing—that progressively reduce their cross-section and shape them into the desired dimensions with high precision and minimal deviation.
- Quenching & Cooling: The freshly rolled bars undergo a rapid quenching process using a high-pressure water-cooling system. This sudden cooling strengthens the outer layer while retaining a ductile core. The bars are then transferred to cooling beds for controlled atmospheric cooling, which helps in relieving internal stresses and achieving a uniform metallurgical structure.
